Adventure Mini Village is part of Waterworld Leisure Ltd — a landmark family destination in Stoke-on-Trent. Known for creating memorable, high energy experiences across their brands.

The Waterworld team wanted to expand their offering with something different: a beautifully crafted, imaginative world designed specifically for younger children.

Their ambition was clear – to create a role-play village that felt immersive, characterful and full of storytelling, while still aligning with Waterworld’s reputation for quality, operational excellence and family focused fun.

Our Brief – A locally Inspired Play Centre

The Waterworld team envisioned a role-play environment that would awaken curiosity, inspire exploration and feel truly unique within the region. They wanted a space where families could play together, where imaginations could run free, and where the charm of Staffordshire’s heritage could be woven into every detail.

Equally important was creating a safe, secure and welcoming setting for parents and carers. They wanted a venue that allows grown ups to relax in the café – enjoying homemade food and drink served, of course, on Staffordshire pottery – while children play confidently and independently within the village.

Designing the Role Play Village

The design process was collaborative from day one. Early sketches established the visual language, followed by detailed theming and narrative development to ensure every pod felt alive with character.

Wayne and the Waterworld team were closely involved throughout, ensuring the final concept reflected local heritage, their audience and their ambitions.

The Finished Environment

When installation was complete, Adventure Mini Village immediately delivered the sense of magic Waterworld envisioned. The handcrafted façades layered storytelling and thoughtful layout created a miniature world that felt vibrant, cohesive and full Waterworld’s signature energy and adventurous spirit.

Three years on, the village continues to perform exceptionally well:
