Our Client’s Vision
Mini Minds was created by Victoria Vann, an entrepreneur with extensive experience in early years care and education. Through her portfolio of successful nurseries, Victoria has always championed vibrant, stimulating environments where children can thrive.
With Mini Minds, she wanted to extend her nursery offering with a children’s play centre that felt truly different — a place where children feel safe, supported, and inspired, and where families feel instantly at home.
“I wanted to create a play space that reflected what we know children need — calm, enriching opportunities to use their imagination. I knew a role play village would fulfil this.” — Victoria Vann
Why Mini Minds Chose DKMD Role Play Villages Ltd
Victoria understood that creating a role play centre required more than beautiful design — it needed partners who recognised the importance of operational flow, commercial viability, and the positive impact of a well crafted play environment.
After exploring several design and build companies, she chose DKMD Role Play Villages Ltd for our blend of creativity, attention to detail, and flexible, collaborative approach. She felt confident that we could translate her vision into a space that was both commercially strong and aligned with her business goals.
“I chose DKMD because, right from our first conversation, they clearly understood my objectives and demonstrated a flexible approach. I was confident they would help bring my role play village vision to life.” — Victoria Vann
Our Brief — More Than Just a Play Centre
Mini Minds was envisioned not only as a role play village, but as a community hub: a welcoming, inclusive space where families could connect, laugh, share a coffee, and feel part of something special.
Victoria’s brief asked us to design:
• A calm, cohesive role play and outdoor environment rooted in EYFS principles
• Zones that encourage meaningful, open ended play
• Freestanding vehicles to elevate play value and variety
• A layout that supports staff, operations, and commercial flow
• A separate party room for fun filled events, workshops, and supportive SEN sessions
• A space where grown ups can unwind, meet other families, and feel at home
Designing the Role Play Village
The design process unfolded collaboratively with the Mini Minds team, ensuring every decision felt personal, purposeful, and aligned with their vision.
• Early sketches established the visual language
• Zones were designed around real life scenarios to support authentic role play
• The addition of freestanding vehicles enhanced the overall play value and flexibility
“The Role Play Villages team were incredible — professional, supportive, and always on hand for questions when we needed them. The whole project was delivered to a high specification, on time, and on budget.”
The Finished Environment
When installation was complete, the village felt instantly alive. The thoughtful layout and handcrafted details created a calm, immersive world that children stepped into with curiosity and joy.
The new role play environment has:
• Elevated the Wythall site into a premium early years destination
• Increased family engagement and repeat visits
• Enabled parties, workshops, and SEN supportive sessions
• Strengthened Victoria’s wider business portfolio
“I’d highly recommend partnering with DKMD Role Play Villages Ltd to design and build your role play centre. They took time to understand my objectives and culture, listened to my brief, and continued to add value throughout the design process.”
